Azure Power India Pvt. Ltd. (New Delhi), an independent power producer in the solar sector in India, on March 28th,
2017 announced that it has commissioned a 130 MW solar photovoltaic
(PV) project in Chitradurga district, Karnataka under the Karnataka
Solar Policy 2014-2021.
With this commissioning, Azure Power is now the largest operator of solar power plants in Karnataka, the company notes.
Azure Power has a contract to supply solar power for
25 years to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company Limited, Hubli
Electricity Supply Company Limited and Gulbarga Electricity Supply
Company Limited at a tariff of INR 6.51 (approx. USD 10.0 cents) per
kWh.
The project is divided in three sub-projects of 50MW, 40MW and 40MW each and is spread across approximately 668 acres of land.
