ADDING GREEN ENERGY TO THE ENERGY MIX IN NIGERIA
The country N igeria is immensely endowed with natural resources such as abundant sunshine wind in the northern parts of the country and many hydroelectricity potentials..For all these to harnessed all hands must on deck .The government must play it's part by providing the enabling environment like putting in place the right policy that will attract renewable energy investors by so doing the country will be able to generate reasonable amount from its renewable energy resources to add to its energy mix which presently is below its national demands
China aims to boost renewable energy with green certificates
of cleaner energy as the world's largest greenhouse gas producer tries to reduce its reliance on coal.
Power suppliers will be able to trade "green certificates" that represent the proportion of non-hydro renewable energy that they generate, the country's National Energy Administration said on Thursday in a statement on its website.
China aims to increase the use of non-fossil fuel in the primary energy mix to 15 percent by 2020 from the current 12 percent. It plans to boost the share of renewables such as wind and solar power, with the goal of cutting emissions of major pollutants in the power sector 60 percent by 2020. China already has the world's largest capacity of photovoltaic solar power.
But the government's efforts to promote a switch to cleaner energy has been hindered because power generated from fossil fuels is cheaper and is therefore given priority on the power transmission grid.
In the statement, the energy regulator also set provincial and regional targets for the proportion of non-hydro renewable energy in use in 2020. They ranged between 5 and 13 percent, with Beijing's target set at 10 percent.
"Power companies can trade the certificates to meet their targets for the proportion of non-hydro renewable energy. Certificate holders are encouraged to participate in carbon-emission-reduction trading and energy-saving trading," the statement said.
The NEA did not say when a trading platform would be built, but it did say that power companies should generate at least 9 percent of their electricity from non-hydro renewable sources by 2020.
China is going to set a national cap-and-trade carbon market in 2017, allowing the trade of carbon credits earned from renewable energy projects to help emitters comply their obligations.

Virtual power plants from Bosch
Over the course of the energy turnaround, the number of electricity producers has dramatically increased. From homeowners with photovoltaic arrays and farmers who feed biogas into the system, to commercial wind park operators: a number of different parties are now selling their power to local energy providers. Their task is to manage the many small and large power plants to ensure a consistent current flow, as this is the basis of a reliable supply.
To balance out fluctuating demand, Bosch Software Innovations has developed the Virtual Power Plant Manager, a software solution that pools energy mainly from renewable sources and manages it in an centralized manner. The result is a virtual power plant, also known as a combined power plant, which makes energy available only when it is needed.
The more power generation facilities are connected to the virtual power plant, the more flexibly and efficiently it operates. At the same time, however, its management becomes more complex: in order to ensure that the power required is always available; the system must guarantee the seamless interplay of the decentralized sources of power. It must also be able to make reliable forecasts about future energy needs and the capacity of the individual power plants. Against this backdrop, the virtual power plant continuously determines the ideal production volume and makes recommendations regarding the best possible plant management. It also keeps track of weather forecasts and current price developments on the energy market. This helps determine the best moments to sell power surpluses.
