GREEN ENERGY NEWS

Balcombe has launched a new solar community share offer.
REPOWERBalcombe, the village’s renewable energy firm, expects the share offer to raise £110,000 for the installation of 100kW of solar projects at two schools.
The co-operative expects Crawley Down Village Church of England School and the Imberhorne School to use between 75% and 80% of solar energy.
The rest of the power produced will go to the national grid.
The firm also anticipates a rate of return of 5% for investors who apply for a share of the offer until 25th of March.
The company said: “We are excited to work with these schools who are at the heart of their communities and to provide an educational opportunity to the pupils.”
In October, Balcombe – which was selected for a fracking project by Cuadrilla – was given the green light to develop a 5MW solar farm.
